The 2026/27 school year is officially underway, and we couldn’t be more excited about what lies ahead!
We are thrilled to report that student numbers are back at pre-pandemic levels, putting us on track for our highest enrollment since the pandemic!
Our Preschool and adult classes are particularly well attended this year, and the school is once again buzzing with students, teachers and families every Saturday morning.
Principal Axel Rechlin opened the day with a welcoming speech, addressing the large crowd with words of encouragement for the school year, recapping the successful events of the last school year:
Special congratulations to the students who received their DSD 1 language certificates!
Most of the students progressed through Grades 1 to 8 at our school and, now in their ninth year, led by Tanmay Joshi, have successfully completed the demanding DSD 1 Language Diploma.
During the AGM, a special farewell was given to Fred Voglmaier, who is retiring from his role as director after many years of dedicated service to our school.
Fred has served the school in many different board roles over the years, including president for several years. He always contributed his time, experience, and commitment to our German community, especially by sharing his IT expertise.
Thank you, Fred, for everything you have done!
We are also happy to welcome Anna Ahmadi to the board as our new Fundraising Coordinator. Anna brings a very special connection to SGLS: she is a former teacher and was herself a student at our school! Welcome to the team, Anna!
