đ On December 7th, it was Nikolaus Day again at our school. The Preschool to Grade 2 students eagerly awaited the arrival of St. Nikolaus in the foyer.
Aside from the traditional Christmas tree, this year the stage had a substantial upgrade. Former teacher Gita Matthew and her daughter Maya went above and beyond with the decorative stage organization and setup. A large blue and white backdrop of an icy window and even a fireplace with greenery enhanced the living room of Nikolaus.
With excitement, the children waited for the arrival of Nikolaus. Former president and teacher Gisela Schulte was dressed as an elf and told a few Christmas stories before the Nikolaus finally arrived. With loud HO HO he came down the stairs accompanied by his two angels and settled into his comfy chair on the beautifully decorated stage.
Turning the pages of his substantial book, St. Nikolaus engaged the students with the captivating tale of St. Nikolaus and the ancient city of Myra in Turkey.Â
The students sang âGuten Tag, ich bin der Nikolausâ and the Nikolaus really enjoyed the performance.
To acknowledge the students, Nikolaus proceeded to read the names from his extensive list from Preschool to G2 and E2.
At the end, he produced a substantial basket filled with treats that were given out by his beautiful angels.Â
When he said Good-bye, the students sang âLeise rieselt der Schneeâ.
The Surrey German Language School would like to thank Aryan âSantaâ Saed for his annual stellar performance as the German Nikolaus, and his two angels Naomi and Ava.
A big thank-you to Gita Matthew and Maya Matthew for the organization and the new stage decoration.
Thank you to teachers Juliane Wolfram and Sibylle Sandvoss who rehearsed the Nikolaus songs with the choir students throughout the year. Well done!
We canât thank the teachers and volunteers enough for making this day so special.
