Welcome to a new School Year at the Surrey German Language School!
Our first day of school will be Saturday, September 12th. We will start at 9 am gathering in the big entrance hall of the school (Kwantlen Park Secondary) with introductions by our President, Christiane Clark and our Principal, Axel Rechlin.
The teachers will be introduced and the students will then be taken into their respective class rooms to start the first day of school.
At 9.15 am the official Annual General Meeting will start. Please find attached the official invitation, agenda and a proposed bylaw change that needs to be voted on.
We are asking all parents to stay for the AGM! It is important for our parents to know what’s going on in our school, what our financial position is and what is needed in order to keep this school going for many more years.
A couple of Director positions on our Board will become vacant, so we are asking you at this time to consider becoming a board member. The Board of Directors is needed in order for this school to exist. All members are volunteers and the time commitment is the first Saturday of each month for the Board Meeting (held during school hours). If you are interested, please feel free to contact me or let us know during the AGM.
Some of you might be receiving this email twice, as I have used all emails from last year’s parents/students as well as the ones from this years registration (so far). If you are planning on registering, you can still do so on the first day of school. Please see me or any other Board Member on the first day of school. We will either have a registration table set up in the hall downstairs, or you can come and see me at the “office” (first room to your right when you come up the stairs). Please remember, that the remaining tuition is due at the beginning of the school year. We accept cash or cheque.
As for school supplies: Every teacher has different needs, so please wait for your teacher to be contacting you after the first day of school. For the first day, pen and paper will be sufficient.
We will be having a concession stand again, thanks to our wonderful volunteers! Each Saturday we will have a recess during which the students (and parents, of course) can purchase buns, pretzels, treats, drinks etc.
If you pack a snack/lunch, please make sure that it is nut free, as we have some severe allergies amongst our students.
Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Looking forward to seeing you all on September 12th!!! Let’s make this a fantastic school year for everyone!
Best Regards, Nathalie Currie Administrator /nc
The school year 2014/15 came to an end on May 30 with an Open House and BBQ.
First students and family members gathered in the theater for another stellar performance by the children.
Also the Language Diploma 2 Certificates were given to Kyla Hanschke, Max Huebner, Amelie Lerner and Alisia Oster.
Several vendors set up their tables to offer their products and services. Delicious Bratwurst was available from the BBQ and afterwards the children enjoyed some traditional German games like Sackhüpfen, Eierlaufen and Tauziehen.
